Next Door To A Star

Hadley Daniels is tired of feeling invisible.

After Hadley’s best friend moves away and she gets on the bad side of some girls at school, she goes to spend the summer with her grandparents in the Lake Michigan resort town of Grand Haven. Her next door neighbor is none other than teen TV star Simone Hendrickson, who is everything Hadley longs to be—pretty, popular, and famous—and she’s thrilled when Simone treats her like a friend.

Being popular is a lot harder than it looks.

It’s fun and flattering when Simone includes her in her circle, though Hadley is puzzled about why her new friend refuses to discuss her former Hollywood life. Caught up with Simone, Hadley finds herself ignoring her quiet, steadfast friend, Charlotte.

To make things even more complicated, along comes Nick Jenkins…

He’s sweet, good-looking, and Hadley can be herself around him without all the fake drama. However, the mean girls have other ideas and they fill Nick’s head with lies about Hadley, sending him running back to his ex-girlfriend and leaving Hadley heartbroken.

So when her parents decide to relocate to Grand Haven, Hadley hopes things will change when school starts…only to be disappointed once again.

Love gone bad.

Is this really what it’s like to live…

“Do NOT start this book at night, otherwise you will get no sleep. I stayed up so late reading this I drifted off to sleep holding my tablet. Got woke up when I dropped it and finished it. I did not want to put it down especially when I was only 3 chapters from the end.
This story really reminds you of what it is like to be in high school and middle school. A lot of times as we get older we tend to forget the struggles and only remember the good. Reading this book had me going, “Oh I had a friend like that.” Krysten Hager certainly knows how to write a wonderful story with believable characters.” by Lowa Angela

“This book really, truly brought me right back to my middle school and high school years in the best possible way. I remember that time being so hard and so confusing to navigate. This book reminds you that everyone has their own insecurities and everyone goes through the same difficult times and that even when you feel alone, you’re not. It is such an important message for teen girls today that isn’t always captured as sentimentally and wonderfully as it is in this book. The author is so completely able to make you feel like part of the story! I honestly couldn’t stop reading this.” by Laura Turner

“This book offers a subtle and seamless progression through changes in the life of a high school girl who struggles with fitting in a crowd of others having unreasonable ideas about friendship. Hadley is levelheaded and although gets slighted by others is able to keep her feelings in check and carry forward without exaggerating the situation or dancing in unnecessary drama. In a world full of texting and misuse of cell phones, Hadley is the perfect role model and portrays the perfect way to blend today’s gadgets, friendships, and family life all into one harmonious existence. There is no lag time in this novel. It is fast-paced and a smooth read. Readers would relish it during summer vacation or any time when in need of a pick-me-up. One of the best aspects and take-away affects of this novel is the fact that it does not dwell on negativity, even though in everyone’s life things happen, whether tragic or minor, this novel sweeps across heavy areas plagued by teenagers allowing them an alternate path in handling turmoil in a balanced and respectable manner. Readers are able to see more sides of a situation or personality, assess situations and people with a fair and objective approach to engage in strong and lasting friendships, but more importantly, to accept others, their inabilities and differences, for a more tolerant and joined society. In other words, teenagers will love reading this novel and be better for having read it.” by Lisa
